Ecodesign and Energy Labelling

The Ecodesign Regulations are in place to inform consumers about the environmental characteristics and performance of energy-related products and to advise them how to use the products in an environmentally-friendly manner.

Relevant products placed on the market must be produced in compliance with the corresponding EU implementing measure and must bear the CE Marking. (See product table below for link to measures)

The Regulations place certain requirements on manufacturers, authorised representatives and importers. Products that do not comply with the Regulations should not be put on the retail market, regardless of by whom they are sold.

Energy Labelling

The Energy Labelling Regulations are in place to ensure that consumers are provided with comparable information relating to the amount of energy and other specified resources a product consumes during use. The Regulations are in place to promote energy efficiency and to encourage consumers to use energy responsibly.

Under the Regulations, energy labels must be properly displayed and a product fiche must be available at the point of sale. Details of the products covered by these Regulations can be found in the table below. Details around the legislation for ecodesign can be found here and energy labelling can be found here.
