The objective of this project was to reduce direct fired steam consumption. Savings were delivered by optimising the boiling processes and using plate heat exchangers to recover waste heat.
Savings of almost €380,000 and over 1,600 tonnes of carbon dioxide were achieved. And the real good news is that the quality of the 2.5 million pints of Guinness produced per day have not been compromised!
Diageo has demonstrated that even in a well operated organisation where energy management is well-established there are still opportunities to reduce cost by challenging existing brewing methods.
