Project Information:

This project involved a technical solar innovation. The first solar cell products will harvest indoor light to power wireless sensors for temperature, light and occupancy, and can be used as part of a smart grid control system within the building. 

Already receiving attention from the development agencies who have acknowledged the potential this project is likely to reach commercialisation in the not too distant future.

Judges’ Description:

The project encompasses a low cost solution for using smart grid technologies aimed at improving the overall performance of buildings and transport, and includes the application of real research.
