How to become a registered contractor

By carrying out work on SEAI Programmes, you are playing a vital role in helping homeowners reduce their energy use, costs and greenhouse gas emissions and improve the comfort of their homes. By registering as an SEAI contractor, you will have the opportunity to develop your reputation and grow your business.

To become a registered contractor with SEAI please complete the following steps:

Step 1

Complete and submit the SEAI Contractor Registration form here - http://www.seai.ie/contractors-and-suppliers/register-with-seai/contractor-registration/.

Please note to become a registered contractor with SEAI for either Heat Pump, Solar PV or Solar Thermal, you first need to register as a Renewable Energy Installer.

Important: Registering on the Renewable Energy Installers Register (R.I.R) is separate from registering as a contractor on the Better Energy Homes Scheme and registration on both registers is mandatory for all Contractors wishing to carry out Heat Pump and/or Solar Thermal installations on the BEH Scheme.

Step 2

As part of your contractor registration, please attach the Contractor Declaration of Insurance form completed by your Insurance broker.

Contractor Declaration of Insurance form

Contractors must be insured by insurance companies regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland. These can be based in the EU or EEA including Northern Ireland and UK.

Important notice;  SEAI requires registered Better Energy Homes contractors to be fully insured at all times.   Should your insurance policy expire, or should you fail to furnish SEAI with a valid Declaration of Insurance in advance of your current policy's expiration date, your company will automatically be removed from the SEAI Registered listing of contractors.  Contractors who carry out works on SEAI programmes without the required insurance will be de-registered and Grants will not be paid.

You will also need to provide a copy of your Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) or electronic Tax Clearance Certificate (eTCC). In order to confirm that you have an electronic Tax Clearance Certificate you will need to provide us with your PPSN/tax reference number and your tax clearance access number (TCAN) for Validation.

Step 3

Submit the completed and signed registration form.

Step 4

Complete the monthly BEH Contractor Online Onboarding Training session.  You will receive an invitation to this online monthly session by email upon successful completion of your registration form and other requested documents.

Note; Contractors applying to re-register are also required to attend the online Onboarding Training session.

Step 5
