SEAI is one of the main sponsors of this year's event and will have an information stand along with our CEO William Walsh giving the Keynote speech at the event.
Energy Ireland is Ireland’s number one energy conference and is generally recognised as such throughout the sector. This year will be the 28th year the event has taken place and it comes at a pivotal time in the energy transition. There is radical change right across all aspects of the sector from accelerating renewable energy, the electrification of transport and heat, decarbonisation of the gas grid and a renewed focus on energy security.
Energy Ireland 2024 will bring together all the key stakeholders in the Irish energy sector to discuss and debate the key drivers of the energy transition and energy security. Ireland’s main energy conference will look at the developments that will decarbonise Ireland’s increasingly integrated energy system.

Briefing: Decarbonising Existing Buildings – understanding the new EU Policy landscape
10th July 2024, 10am-12pm
The online briefing will provide an update on two crucial EU directive updates – the Energy Efficiency Directive and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive – which will define the landscape for existing buildings to 2030.
Decarbonising existing non-residential buildings is essential to achieving national and European carbon targets as set out in the European Green Deal. The updated Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and Energy Efficiency Directive will have a significant impact on existing non residential buildings.
The EPBD will introduce Minimum Energy Performance Standards and targets to upgrade the worst performing buildings, requiring the installation of solar energy on existing buildings, and requiring Building Renovation Passports. The Energy Efficiency Directive also requires a renovation rate of at least 3% of the area of public buildings and a 1.9% kWh pa energy reduction for public bodies. This webinar from Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) brings together government officials and SEAI experts making it an essential briefing for all in the public and private sector involved in managing and refurbishing existing buildings.
