What to expect
The Future Energy and Innovation Stage is a brand new development for the SEAI Energy Show 2025. This is an open stage on the exhibition floor with no pre-booking required, just call by and take a seat. More details on each of these sessions below.

Focusing on green skills it will highlight the range of training by nationwide Education training boards. Dasbe(Digital Academy for Sustainable Built Environment) will also present information on a number of subsidised programmes and micro credentials around the themes of energy efficiency, circular economy and digital construction. |
11:45 | Measuring the potential take up of EVs using the TRACT app | This session will explore how measuring the potential take up of EVs using the TRACT app. The TRACT EV app (developed with the financial support of SEAI and the Dep of Transport) helps potential EV buyers assess if an EV suits their travel needs. |
12:45 | Building Simulation and BIM technology | A review of the availability and benefits of the digital technologies currently being used in the market to increase the sustainability of design, construction and operation of buildings |
13:45 | Decarbonisation Planning: New Energy Management Standard for Businesses | Building on the international success of ISO 50001 (Energy Management Systems), ISO is developing a new international standard on using Energy Management Practices to decarbonise the energy consumption of organisations. Liam is co-leading the development of this new standard and will describe its use as a central tool in your decarbonisation strategy. |

11:45 | Domestic Part L and F Update | This session will explore the latest version of Technical Guidance Document Part L (Conservation of Fuel and Energy) and F (ventilation). It will feature a talk on the technical areas that will affect both new and existing domestic buildings. |
12:45 | District Heat in Ireland Update | The National District Heating Centre of Excellence is a new team in SEAI. Andy will be charting the progress of District Heating in Ireland the opportunities to explore and the support the Centre of Excellence can provide to project sponsors. Stephen Cull from DCC will then update on the progress of the strategically important Poolbeg Waste to Energy District Heating project. |

John is the manager of the National Construction Training Campus, Mount Lucas. (The Retrofit & NZEB Centre of Excellence) John is also the Programme Co-ordinator of the National Scaffolding Apprenticeship. He oversees and manages all aspects of training delivery within the Construction sector for NZEB & Retrofit Training, Scaffolding Apprenticeship, Skilled Utilities Operator Traineeship, Construction Skills Certificate Scheme, UK Changeover and Non-EU Transfer programmes.
John is passionate about training within the Energy and Sustainability sector and works closely with Industries to identify training to meet current and future skills gaps with the aim of upskilling, retraining and further professionalising the Construction Industry.

Lis O’Brien is an RIAI Architect, Grade 3 conservation architect and Sustainable Energy Engineer, specialising in the sustainable energy efficient design, renewables, BIM and circular Project Management of the Built Environment. Lis is on a number of expert panels in Ireland and across Europe related to energy retrofit, circularity and digital advancements.
Lis is the Manager for the Digital Academy for the Sustainable Built Environment (DASBE) at Technological University of the Shannon, developing flexible programmes to support and progress the transition of the construction industry into a modern energy efficient, decarbonised digitalised era.

Prof Caulfield is Professor in Transportation in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering. His research addresses global issues such as the environmental impacts of transport and methods to reduce the carbon impacts of transport.
Prof Caulfield has published over 200 papers in international journals and conferences and to date has been awarded approx. €9 million in research funding. He currently has 9 PhD students and 6 postdoctoral researchers in his research group.
He is an Editor of Transport Policy, a leading international highly ranked journal. He is a member of the International Editorial Board of Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment, Case Studies on Transport Policy, the Journal of Cycling and Micro-mobility Research, and the Journal of Transport Geography.

John is the Heat & Electricity Lead for Codema – Dublin’s Not-for-Profit Energy Agency. He is an expert in low-carbon heating, district energy, energy masterplanning, and policy development. He has worked on developing district heating & cooling networks across Ireland, Europe and the Middle East and is an advocate for the use of heat assets to support the electricity grid and deliver a sustainable, integrated energy system.

Rebecca is an Executive Manager on Energy Planning for Codema – Dublin’s Energy Agency.
She has led several EU and local projects, focusing on energy planning, building energy efficiency, emissions modelling and masterplanning. She has worked on developing energy and carbon assessments to inform development plans, developed the decarbonising zones’ evidence base, emissions quantification, spatial energy mapping, energy and planning policies.

Joseph is accountable for the business’s strategic direction in Ireland, South America, and Europe. He is a member of the CIF 4.0 Committee (BIM), a member of the NSAI Technical Committee on Building Information Modelling.
He holds BEng Tech and BSc degrees in Electrical Engineering Services Design and an MSc in Applied Building Information Modelling and Management.Industry work aside, he is a part-time lecturer at Technological University Dublin, lecturing on the CPD Digital Delivery for site Teams, and Construction site management

In his 24+ years working within the local authority structure on various projects as Project Manager on large social housing regeneration schemes and Energy Efficiency projects.
