About the Awards

Car dealerships are a vital part of the transition to clean and efficient transport. SEAI in partnership with Zero Emission Vehicles Ireland want to recognise and award those dealerships who are working to increase consumers understanding and experience of EVs and their uptake on Irish roads.  

How to apply

Applications are now open. The application form only will be used to assess the following:

  • Website review
  • Review of sales
  • Review of training provided to all staff

Mystery shopping will also be carried out on your dealership. There are more details below on how the dealerships are evaluated.

Note - If your dealership has more than one physical location under the dealership name / ID then an application should be submitted for each location.  Each showroom / location will be assessed separately.

Evaluation Criteria

Dealers will be assessed on the following:

1. Customer experience via a mystery shopper - 70 marks

  • Staff knowledge of EVs
  • Sales approach
  • EV visibility in the showroom
  • EV promotion to customers

2. Level of staff training on EVs - 15 marks

  • Number of staff trained
  • Depth of training
  • Completion of the EV dealer module on the SEAI Energy Academy

3. EV sales figures - 10 marks

  • EV sales as a share of all sales
  • Growth in EV sales

4. Website evaluation - 5 marks

  • Dedicated and prominent EV section
  • Mention of EV incentives and comparision tools

Judging process

County Winners

  • A winning dealership will be selected in each county where dealerships have registered for the Award. A minium score must be achieved to be considered for an award.

  • County winners will be announced in January 2025.

Regional Winners

  • The county winners will form the shortlist for the regional winners to be evaluated and selected from.

  • There will be four regional winners selected from Munster, Leinster, Connaught and Ulster.

  • The regional winners will be announced and presented at the Society of Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) Irish Motor Industry Awards and Annual Dinner in February 2025

Overall National Winner

  • The four regional winners will be evaluated to select an overal national winner.

  • The National Winner will be announced at the SEAI Energy Show in March 2025.
