As part of the Home Energy Grants programme, homeowners must carry out and publish a BER. This grant goes towards the cost of a BER assessment.

What is a BER

A BER Certificate is an indication of the energy performance of your home. It must be carried out by a registered BER assessor. Find further information on BERs.

Who can apply

If you applied for an SEAI grant for works completed on your home, you may be asked to provide a post-works BER certificate before receiving the grant payment.

SEAI provide a €50 grant for Homeowners who have completed certain SEAI grant related works on their home.

Timeframe

You must complete the works and submit the paperwork within 6 months from the date of the grant offer. You can find the expiry date in your offer letter.

Free upgrades for eligible homes

If your home was built and occupied before 2006 and you are in receipt of social welfare payments, you may be eligible for free energy efficiency improvements.
