Solar Meitheal Webinar
The old Irish term 'Meitheal', signifies neighbours coming together to help in their community; to make light work over larger tasks. In modern Ireland the spirit of 'Meitheal' is still thriving. A Solar Meitheal is a community-led concept which involves informing and grouping homeowners in a local area who want to install Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels on their homes. The Solar Meitheal Webinar featured Mel Gavin, SEC Regional Co-ordinator of the Border West Region, who explained the basis of a Solar Meitheal project and took us through the Solar Meitheal Toolkit he developed. This is a helpful guide through the steps SECs can take for their own Solar Meitheal project. SECs that have been successful in their own Solar Meitheal project joined for the second half of the webinar to chat about their own experiences.
